Shoushan soapstone seal with lion pommel. Qing period, 18th century. Of square form with a pommel in the shape of a guardian lion. The finely carved, seated animal is leaning on its front paws and looking back to the left. The seal surface is uncut. H 6 cm; base 2.5 x 2.5 cm Provenance Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia, in family ownership for several generations Exhibitions From 1990 to 2024 on permanent loan to the Berlin Museum of Asian Art (DLG 118-1990) and exhibited there from time to time (documented by a condition report from the museum).
