Large pair of blue and white baluster pots. Kangxi era, ca. 1690-1720
The octagonal body decorated in underglaze blue with eight vertical panels of flowering shrubs framed by floral patterns. Round plinth-like foot with unglazed base. The domed lid with spherical knob is decorated in the same pattern. (2)
Three comparable lidded pots can be found in the Royal Porcelain Collection in Dresden (PO 1050; PO 2012; PO 9037). According to the historical inventory of 1721, these were part of a five-piece set consisting of three pots and two beaker vases.
