Pair of hanging scrolls depicting the Monju and Fugen Bosatsu. Edo period, 19th century.
The right-hand hanging scroll shows Monju Bosatsu with a sword and the stem of a flower sitting in meditation on a lotus, carried by a mighty shishi floating down from the left on clouds. The left-hand scroll shows Fugen Bosatsu with a lotus flower in a meditation position on a lotus, carried by an elephant floating down on clouds from the right. Ink, colors and very little gold on silk. (2)
