Water vessel for the tea ceremony (mizuzashi). 19th/early 20th century. Upwardly widening form with a wide mouth, below which a series of large patterned circles are impressed. Entirely covered with a thin dark brown glaze and a lighter stripe over the circular patterns. Flat lacquer lid. Wooden box, paper label pasted to the base dated Taisho hachinen (1919) gogatsu ...
