Large rectangular satsuma vessel. Late 19th century.
Almost cube-shaped with indented edges, all sides with dense chrysanthemum blossoms applied almost in relief. In slightly recessed, matching cartouches in enamel colors and gold chicken family, bamboo and funnel vines, peonies on a bamboo trellis, ducks in a pond and marsh plants and flying bird on a flowering cherry branch. Pierced bronze lid with knob, this broken off.
Small hole in the base sealed. The bottom mark in an iron-red field rubbed.
