Lidded vessel. Ivory. Late 19th century. Signed in seal form: Tomioka In the shape of an elephant's tooth segment with inserted thin base plate and flat lid with tiger pommel. Four tigers attacking an elephant in relief on the wall, the elephant has wrapped its trunk around one of the tigers. H 19.8 cm Provenance Private collection, Hesse, acquired from Carola van Ham, Cologne, 6.12.1991, lot 222 This object was made using materials for which a CITES permit is required for export to countries outside the EU.
