Inro. 18th/19th century. 4-piece, offset cord guide. Red-brown lacquer with hirame on all sides. On each broadside a reserve with blossoming plum tree, pine branch and a stream in makie, details of kirikane, blossoms and needles in silver. Inside fine nashiji and fundame. Small marks on the wooden pegs. Coral ojime. Two-part ivory manju, carved on both sides with chrysanthemum blossom branches over waves. H 6.3 cm; W 5.3 cm Provenance Private collection, Baden-Württemberg, acquired at Lempertz, Cologne, 9/10.6.2012, lot 970 This object was made using materials for which a CITES permit is required for export to countries outside the EU.
