Signed: Kajikawa saku and pot seal: egg (hide) in red lacquer
5-piece set, black lacquer on all sides. In gold taka and hiramakie the Zen patriarch Daruma, crossing the Yangzi on a reed branch, on the reverse five characters above waves. Details in hirame. Inside nashiji and fundame. Maritime ivory ojime in the shape of a daruma doll. Netsuke of a standing daruma. Maritime ivory. 19th century.
The characters "Hosshi shin jo kai" mean something like: Dharma nature is as true as the ocean.
