Netsuke of a New Year's drummer (saizo). Ivory. Late 19th century. Signed: Shigeyuki Half-kneeling, in festive garb with patterns and coat of arms, beating an hourglass-shaped drum, on his head an eboshi. H 4,2 cm Provenance Private collection, Baden-Württemberg This object was made using materials for which a CITES permit is required for export to countries outside the EU. We would like to point out that a permit is not usually issued.
