Note: This is a rare test proof outside the edition of 50. Henri Matisse created Hindoue à la Jupe de Tulle during his time living in Nice between 1917 to 1929. The present lot adeptly shows the artist’s penchant for portraying women in exotic costumes. His muse is positioned next to an Orientalist octagonal side table, the type of which were highly fashionable throughout the 1920's in France and a bouquet of delicate flowers.
