MISCELLANEOUS. RHINO FERRY steel barge box, 156 X 216 X 154 cm overall. ABE This one has been kept dry in a barn in the central region of France, and has been used for decades as a fuel tank, which is now almost empty. It will therefore be necessary to clean the residues still inside. This will be removed on site in the Loir-et-Cher region. A Rhino Ferry is a landing craft built by the US Navy consisting of interconnected steel caissons powered by two outboard motors. They are used to land heavy equipment and troops. Rhino ferries were used during the Normandy landings, but also during other Allied landings, notably in Sicily. In Normandy, 41 Rhino ferries served the British and Canadian beaches, and 31 the American beaches.
