dating: 1863 provenance: USA, Round, 8", 44 cal. barrel (clean bore with some signs of use, visible rifling), with mark featuring New York address on the back, "T"-shaped mark on the left side. Rebated cylinder with remains of a depiction of the naval battle between the Texan and Mexican navies, clearly visible patent mark and partial serial number matching the frame, "D"mark. Well working mechanism. The frame with three screws and with a carving at the cylinder to mount a removable butt (not present), serial number "128xxx", marked "COLTS PATENT" on the left side. Brass trigger guard with matching and clearly visible serial number, "D" mark. Iron back band with matching serial number and a slot for the removable butt at the base of the grip, remains of mark "D" to the back. Wooden grip with small restorations, the left side with engraved rectangular block (a restoration or remains of stamp?). The frame possibly with some remains of case hardening and small remains of browning at the barrel.
