dating: 1861 - 1862 provenance: USA, Octagonal, rifled, 8", 44 cal barrel, (some signs of use inside, visible rifling), marked "B. F. JOSLYN / PATD. MAY 4th, 1858" at the base, front sight. Smooth, five-shot cylinder. Working mechanism. Smooth frame with mark "2" at the bottom. Side hammer. Iron trigger guard (the rear holding screw is slightly loosened). Wooden grips with knurled segment at the centre, one with notches (apparently not random) at the lower edge. Serial number "4xx" inside the handle. The surfaces are well preserved with some very small pitting.
