dating: 1874 - 1876 provenance: USA, Smoothbore, round, 12 gauge damask barrels, the rib marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS ILION. N.Y.", engraved base, brass foresight. Tang with "Remington-Whitmore Lifter Action" opening, engraved and marked "A.E. WHITMORE'S PATENT AUG. 8. 1871 - APRIL 16 1872". Forward spring locks finely engraved with floral motifs and cocks from the 1874 model. Checkered wooden butt and fore-end with iron mounts decorated en suite. Rare.
