dating: Muromachi Period (1392-1573) provenance: Giappone, Nagasa (length: 30.2 cm), hamon: Hoso Suguha; hada: Itame Masame, double copper habaki; Nakago mei 'Kanewara', Ubu Kurijiri; Yasuri Higaki. Beautiful koshirae with oval tsuba of shakudo, fuchi decorated with grass under the moon, kashira with birds, also in bas-relief partially gilded and silver-plated. Elegant menuki in blackened and gilded shakudo decorated with floral motifs. Leather tsuka. Saya of lacquered wood decorated with thin grooves similar to the wooden structure, beautiful copper Kurigata shaped as a house with partially gilded floral decorations. Late Muromachi Period early Tensho (c. 1573), Minoseki school, Shizo Saburo group. Kanewara worked like Wakasa No Jo Ujifusa.
