Pair of Japanese vases Meiji period, 19th century.
Patinated bronze.
It has small, barely visible holes, due to the passage of time.
Measurements: 47 x 23 x 23 cm. the largest.
Pair of Japanese bronze vases. The globular bodies present decorations in relief on all their surface, occupying the central part a group of tropical birds. They are set in leafy landscapes and above them is a line of clouds, depicted in a sinuous, sinuous manner, as was customary in traditional Japanese paintings. One of the birds, with beautifully chiselled plumage, cranes its neck as if reacting to an unexpected encounter. The seabed is depicted at the base of the vases. In this way, we can read the different levels of the world: the underwater, the land and the sky (at the top of the neck).
