An 1857 model chasseur's carbine by Mazzocchi with matching bayonet
dating: 1859 provenance: Stato Pontificio, Round, rifled barrel with octagonal base (bore needs cleaning, clearly visible rifling along the entire length), with foresight, club guide for the bayonet, foldaway and adjustable rear sight, date "1859", marks "C. 17. 6", numbered "921", with remains of other marks including papal ones, 18 mm cal. at the nozzle. Breech numbered en suite. Backward spring lock with lock plated marked "F.lli Mazzocchi Roma". Well working mechanism. Wooden, full stock (small defects). Iron mounts, all stamped "921". Various screws with the same number. Butt plate featuring screw with dot. Iron ramrod. Complete with sabre-bayonet (69.8 cm. length) with number "100" marked on the crossbar. Very rare and interesting.
