dating: Third quarter of the 19th Century provenance: Stato Pontificio, Round, rifled, 12 mm cal. barrel (slightly dusty bore, with visible rifling), octagonal base marked with pontifical mark, mark of the Liège test bench, serial number "45xx" and with other marks, a little further the mark "E. M. & L. NAGANT A LIEGE"; with foresight, clutch for the bayonet, foldaway and adjustable rear sight. Iron frame marked "BREVET REMINGTON", various marks including "X" and "S" under crown, serial number matching the barrel. Rolling block bolt with marks and serial number also matching the barrel. Working mechanism. Wooden butt and fore-end (a couple of woodworm holes on the butt), still visible on the right side of the butt stock, the stamp "CATHOLIQUES BELGES" with date "1868". Iron mounts and ramrod. Together with a yatagan bayonet (length 69.5 cm) with matching serial number, iron scabbard.
