Oder neü eingerichtes Zwerchen Cabinet. 18th c 50 etchings, c. 27,7 x 17,7 cm, laid paper with watermark (coat of arms with fleur-de-lys), various signatures, French, Dutch and German text (few spots, few stains, few with margin cut and restored, few ms. notes in pen and pencil, few restored tears). Good impressions with wide margins. Good condition. Mod. half cloth Bradel, marbled paper, title label gold-stamped "DWERGEN TOONEEL". Title plate of the 2nd part and 49 images (n. 2-3, 7-13, 16-50; 1st part A, D-E; 2nd part A-B) from Wilhelmus Koning's version of the so-called "dwarfs theatre" (1st ed. Amsterdam, 1716), vaguely inspired by Jacques Callot. Famous series of grotesque figures caricaturing various "types" of the time: the stepmother, the knight, the pseudo-wizard, the ugly old woman, etc. In ornamental frames with ironic quatrains in French, Dutch and German. Engraved by Andries van Buysen senior, P. van Buysen junior, Anna Folkema, Fopje Folkema, Jacob Folkema (monogram ICF), Jacob Keyser, Isaac Ledeboer and Jooste van Sasse.
