Album with large animal series. 17th c 167 etchings, c. 9,6 x 13,8 cm, laid paper, Latin and Italian text, title plate with erroneous (?) ms. note "Animalium / Cuiusq(ue) Generis(que) / Artificiosa Delinatio / Justi Sadeleri" (title plate cut and laid down, traces of formerly pasted modern prints, few sheets strengthened, some mostly marg. water stains, some foxing, few wormholes, few sm. tears, few spots, few stains). Good, later impressions. 18th-c. limp vellum, spine with raised bands (stains, sm. defects). Large collection with title and 166 animal prints, printed 2 per sheet. European and exotic animals incl. insects, amphibians, reptiles, mamals and mythological creatures. A ms. note suggests these illustrations are related to the work of the Italian naturalist Ulisse Aldrovandi (1522-1605). Preceded by a cut title plate, possibly from a different series, with the Medici coat of arms.
