JOSEPH BOZE (Martigues, 1745-Paris, 1826) PORTRAIT OF A CAPTAIN OF THE BATAVE NATIONAL GUARD, UNIFORM OF 1799 BUT WITH THE AIGUILLETTE OF THE LOCAL GUARD OF HONOR CIRCA 1808-1810, DECORATED WITH THE ROYAL ORDER OF THE UNION (2ND TYPE), IN THREE-QUARTER BUST TO THE LEFT Miniature on ivory Signed at right edge: "boze" (partly under the frame) Spotting on the upper left border, small stain Varnished wood frame (13.9 x 13.7 CM, split) Portrait of a captain with the Royal Order of the Union. Miniature on ivory, signed, varnished wood frame (split) Diam. 6 CM - 2,4 IN. The Royal Order of the Union (Orde van de Unie) was created by Louis Bonaparte in 1806 and abolished in 1811.
