Figurative Apulian oinochoe. Canosa, 3rd century BC. H with handle 17.6 cm. Jug with cloverleaf mouth and high bow handle in the shape of a young woman's head with twisted temple hair and high headdress. Well-preserved paint residues, pink for the skin, red as a base coat in the hair and black for the headdress. With certificate of authenticity from Galerie Günter Puhze, Freiburg im Breisgau! Published in: F. de Ricqles, Paris auction 23 April 2001, lot 695; Kunst der Antike - Galerie Günter Puhze catalog 16, 2002, no. 187 (copy enclosed). Tiny bump to the nose, otherwise intact, well-preserved colors only chipped in a few small places. Provenance: From the R. L. Collection, Lower Saxony, acquired in 2003 from Galerie Puhze, Freiburg im Breisgau; previously in a southern German collection from the 1990s.
