Greek bronze inochoe. Classical period, 4th century BC. H 19.1cm, ø body 10.6cm. Type 2 with ovoid body, narrow neck, cloverleaf mouth and low bow handle. The fluted handle ends at the bottom in an attachment in the shape of a bearded Silens head, while the thumb rest ends with a youthful satyr head. A pearl and egg stick on the lip. Turned concentric circles on the underside. Magnificent figural decoration of high quality! Cf. for example Th.
