Pair of gold earrings. Early Byzantine, 5th - 7th century AD. 12.55g, ø 3.5cm. Hoop earrings with a rigid wheel-shaped pendant with grape-like granulated decoration, one grape additionally decorated with a mother-of-pearl pearl. Gold! Hoops somewhat bent, intact. Provenance: Acquired in 1981 from the A.C. Collection, England. Previously English art trade of the late 1970s. In Germany since 2019, at Gorny & Mosch auction 268, 2019, lot 229.
