Gold ring with jasper gem. Roman, 2nd - 3rd century A.D. 5.20 g, ring size 60. Narrow band widening towards the top, with a transverse oval, set gem of dark green jasper on top, depicting a shepherd milking a goat. Gold! Surface of the gem with fine scratches, setting somewhat crushed on the reverse. Provenance: Ex private collection H.L., Rhineland, since before 2000.
