Five-panel icon with the Mother of God of Kazan and the Three-Handed Mother of God of St. Mount Athos. Russia, late 19th century. H 35.5 cm, W 30.4 cm, egg tempera on chalk ground. Wooden panel with two vertical back sponki, kovcheg, gilded nimbuses, picture bars and robe details. Explanatory tituli in Church Slavonic, ancient Greek inscriptions. Upper row with Mother of Kazan (left) and Three-handed Mother of God of St. Mount Athos (right), lower row with scene of the sleep of St. Dormouse, framed by guardian angel (left) and St. Martyr Artemius (right), marginal saints St. Martyr Uar (left) and St. Ksenia (right). Excellent state of preservation! With expert opinion by Ivan Bentchev! Minor chips to the wooden rim. Provenance: Ex private collection H.L., Rhineland, since before 2000.
