Head of the Buddha. Gandhara, 2nd - 3rd century A.D. H 14.5 cm. Made of dark gray slate. Softly modeled head with elongated ears, hair in moving waves. Forehead eye and ushnisha. Modern base. Chips, especially to the nose and earlobes. Provenance: Ex collection J.H., Munich, acquired late 1990s to before 2004.
