VAN UFFELEN, Alfons A. Diverse collection of photos. C. 54 gelatin silver prints, bromoil gelatin silver prints and other techniques between photography and engraving, b/w or sepia, diff. sizes, signed by the artist, with blindstamp or stamp "AAVU", some with annotations on verso referring to exhibitions ("The London Salon of Photography 1953", "Internationale Focus Fotosalon Nederland 1946") or a title, place or a date ("Expo '58, Brussel, Paviljoen van Cambodja"). Alfons A. Van Uffelen (1895-1963) was an Antwerp pictoralist specializing in fashion photography, landscape, still life, animals, etc. This set contains 5 smaller snowy mountainous b/w photos showing nature or skiers, 1 still life with pheasant, 10 animal photos showing a polar bear (at the zoo?), herons and pelicans, 7 city views from a.o. Antwerp, Bruges and some more Mediterranean area, 27 portraits a.o. the wife of Ernest Wijnants (Belgian sculptor and painter) and "Stan the Sailor", 3 photos, sepia tinted of the Cambodia pavilion at the Brussels World Fair of 1958.
