Brick morocco signed Gruel, mosaic-covered boards with geometric motifs interlaced with grape leaves, ribbed spine with ornate coffers mosaic-covered with grape leaves, green morocco lining decorated with gilt filleting, ochre moiré silk endpapers, gilt tr., covers and spines cons. In amaranth half-maroquin flap folder (covers rubbed) and slipcase (minor wear). Ex. in perfect condition. 41 colorful stencil-enhanced compositions: frontispiece, 15 hors-texte and 25 headbands. Edition of 900, one of 40 on japon (1st paper, no. 32), accompanied by two suites: one in black and one in color. An exceptional copy, with 41 original gouaches signed by Cassiers and encircled by a gilded fillet, used to illustrate the book, and two previously unpublished illustrations.
