[MANNOURY d'ECTOT, H. de] Le roman de Violette. Posthumous work of a masked celebrity. Lisbon [i.e. Paris?] chez Antonio da Boa-Vista [H. Doucé?] 1870 [i.e. c. 1890] Pet. in-8° : [4]-198 pp. (slight tears to engravings). Contemporary bradel gray taupe half-percaline with corners, marbled paper boards, red title page on spine, covers on boards (some rubbing). Counterfeit reproducing line by line the edition given by Auguste Brancart (Brux., [1883]), printed on Olyrood watermarked laid paper with a different typeface and decorated with the 6 etchings by F[rédillo], printed on japon, which sometimes accompany one of the two first editions (cf. previous lot). Frédillo (or Fredillo) was the pseudonym of French artist Louis-Alfred Boisserand (1855-1924), who clandestinely produced numerous erotic illustrations a.o. for Brancart. Title in red and black adorned with a satyr practicing self-fellation, cover printed in red and black identical to title page. Ref. Dutel 761. - Cp. Pia 1282, Perceau 58-1. - Not in Nordmann. Prov.
