[sig. A-d8/4 e4 f-m8 A8 B-D4 E8]. Red morocco, gilt small-iron lace on covers, ornate ribbed spine, interior gilt roulette, gilt edges (18th-century binding). Bohatta, n° 286, 287, 289. - Not in Lacombe, who cites this edition but describes the hours of Amiens (238), Chartres (239) and Rome (241). Rare book of hours printed on vellum skin by Gilles Cousteau for the Paris bookseller Guillaume Eustace. Eustace had 4 books of hours printed in 1513, this one for Paris, but also for Amiens, Chartres and Rome. Some of the quires are common to all four books; only quires a and e to m are distinct and bear a mark, here a "P" or the letters "Pa", for Paris, next to the signatures. The edition includes a calendar for 1512-1527, which in this copy, on the verso of the first leaf, has been scratched out and modified by hand at the time for 1532-1547. It is illustrated with 35 engraved woodcuts, including the mark of Guillaume Eustace on the first leaf, 18 large compositions and 16 small ones. A rubricated copy, with all engravings illuminated at the time. Each page is also framed with either a gilded listel between two red lines, or an architectural frame for the pages with the large engravings. A fine copy in 18th-century morocco. Spine slightly faded, rubbing to headpieces, nerves and corners, a few minor scratches to boards. First two leaves slightly soiled and trimmed shorter at gutter margin. Marginal staining to first few leaves. Top margin a little short with damage to painted frames, small but not serious damage to painting of William Eustace's mark on first leaf.
