First edition of the first of three novels in the Les Trois villes cycle. It was followed by Rome in 1896 and Paris in 1898.
One of 340 numbered copies on Hollande paper (no. 228).
A fine copy, with an article from L'Écho de Paris, April 17, 1908, about Zola's "Grivotte".
