Grey shagreened calf à la Bradel, first board decorated in the lower left corner with a mosaic cat in white calf, looking at three gilt swallows located in the upper right corner, smooth spine decorated with a gilt iron depicting a love sitting on a painting palette, untrimmed, cover retained, slipcase (publisher's binding).
First edition of this very interesting and rare work on the intimate life of Montmartre. Limited to 90 copies, it is illustrated with 33 compositions by Pierre VIDAL (1849-1913?), wood-engraved by Clément père, including 2 on the cover, one as a frontispiece, one on the title and 29 in the text.
One of 70 copies on chine (n° 22), in a mosaic publisher's binding, with a separate suite of all the woodcuts on japon pelure.
A very well preserved copy, with a japon proof of the frontispiece and the publication prospectus on chine.
