Lemon morocco, gilt fillets and gilt Greek roulette on dark blue morocco listel framing the boards, first plate additionally decorated with a large circular gilt and mosaic floral collar, surrounding a gilt and mosaic man playing the flute, whose chains are wrapped around a brown morocco band, ornate ribbed spine, lemon morocco frame inside, decorated with a blue morocco listel, a gilt stippled fillet and gilt and mosaic motifs at the corners, mustard moiré silk lining and endpapers, double endpapers, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved, bordered slipcase (Flammarion - E. Mainfroy). Mainfroy) Beautiful edition of Ovid's L'Art d'aimer, in Pierre Lièvre's new translation. It is illustrated by the Swiss engraver and illustrator André LAMBERT (1884-1967) with 23 color etched out-of-text compositions, including a title, 4 frontispieces and 18 compositions, as well as a few woodcut initials and ornaments. Edition of 500 copies; one of 404 on Arches vellum with the collection watermark, containing the definitive state in color of all plates (no. 430). A very fine copy in contemporary mosaic binding. Engravings transferred to facing leaves.
