Dark brown morocco, boards framed with an eggplant morocco listel, bordered on the outside with ivy leaves and three roses in the center of the sides, respectively mosaicked in dark green and pink morocco, and on the inside with a double lobed gilt fillet at the corners featuring an eggplant morocco pastille, spine decorated with gilded and mosaic motifs in the same spirit, framed with gilded fillets and mosaic flowers and ivy leaves at the corners inside, dark green moiré silk lining and endpapers, double endpapers, gilded edges on witnesses, bordered slipcase (P. Affolter 1923). Edition of only 130 copies on vellum paper, illustrated with a title vignette, 33 chapter headings and 33 culs-de-lampe, etched in color by the painter and engraver Henri JOURDAIN (1864-1931). This illustration is unusual in that it features only landscapes, with no figures. One of 99 copies reserved for Society members, this one specially printed for Madame B. de La Pommeray. A very fine copy in a mosaic binding by Paul Affolter. Some rubbing to the edges of the boards. In addition to the usual transfers of the engravings, there are numerous dark marks on several leaves.
