CERVANTES (Michel de). HISTOIRE DE L'ADMIRABLE DON QUICHOTTE DE LA MANCHE. Paris, Fr. Dufart, [1798]. Four volumes in four volumes in-8, full porphyry calf, finely ornamented smooth spines, red and green titles and appendices (period binding). A very fine copy, despite a restored tear on p. 439 of volume I. New revised, corrected and enlarged edition of Filleau de Saint-Martin's translation. It is illustrated with twenty-five plates by Coulet, Queverdo y Gaucher after drawings by Coypel. Rare edition reported by Cohen (220), who confuses it with Deterville, 1799. Monglond knew only of the copy belonging to the bibliophile André Gérard. Brunet III, 1751; Graesse II, 107; Rius, 512; Palau 52762. A good example of the continuing interest in this text at the end of the 18th century.
