Juan del Valle y Bárcena is mentioned by Juan Agustín Ceán Bermúdez in his "Historical Dictionary of the Most Illustrious Professors of Fine Arts in Spain." He explains that Fray Juan del Valle, born in Mazuela, professed in 1660 in the convent of Santo Domingo de Burgos where he painted several paintings for its cloister, as well as for other churches and convents in the province.
