Material: Miniature mosaic made of glass, behind glass, wooden frame, Depiction: Depiction of four birds at a bird bath, Dimensions: frame 12.5 x 12 cm, Condition: good due to age, Comment: Sosos was a Greek mosaicist who was active in Pergamon at the time of the Attalids. His famous work with the four drinking or sunbathing doves on the rim of a water vessel was in Pergamon and is dated to the 2nd century BC. A Roman replica can be found in the Capitoline Museum in Rome.
