Private collection François Vizzanova was a photographer at the Académie de France in Rome. publisher and painter, François Vizzanova, whose portrait of his wife by Jean Gabriel Domergue is shown here, founded his own publishing house in 1898, acquiring the archives (30,000 plates) built up by Eugène Druet (1867-1916) and succeeded by Laurent Vizzavona. The Vizzavona archives were purchased by the RMN to form the agency's initial collection.
