In Rome and Milan where he had studios, he was mainly sought out by actresses and authors who loved his black and white portraits characterized by a careful study of film-derived lighting. His past as an athlete - Elio Luxardo had been an excellent swimmer - and his youthful attention to sculpture can be found in some of his research on the female and especially the male body where he used boxers as models to emphasize, as in this case, the spectacularity of their musculature. This lot is subject to Artists Resale Rights
