A Regence ormolu mounted amaranth and bois satiné longcase clock The movement signed Louis Charles Gallonde, Paris, circa 1740, the case later H.ca. 230 cm, B. 42 cm Two-part, inlaid case made of amaranth and bois satíné with rich, fire-gilt bronze mountings. Back-glass dial with Roman numerals, Arabic minute track and decorated hands, signed Gallonde à Paris (Louis-Charles Gallonde 1715-1771, became master in 1748). Solid brass movement, also signed Gallonde à Paris with 8-day running time, quarter hour strike on two bells, anchor escapement and spring winding. Rest, added, age damage.
