A large Charles XII gilt lead mirror
Stockholm, early 18th century, probably by Gustav Precht

The central rectangular bevelled plate within a mirrored frame surmounted by a c-scroll cresting and central urn. Restorations, additions, minor cracks. Minor areas of foxing.
Gustav Precht, originally from Bremen, settled in Stockholm in 1674. He was specially known for his extraordinary decoration in gilded lead. For a comparable mirror see G.Child, World mirrors, London 1990, pl. 678
