GUERET Frères, Denis Désiré (1828 - ) and Onésime (1830 - ), carved and gilded wood console table, resting on four tapered fluted legs linked by a cross-brace, richly decorated in the Louis XVI taste of pastoral love with, in the center of the high openwork crosspiece, The top is in white Carrara marble, circa 1855/1870, stamped and stencilled rue Madeleine, H : 103 cm, W: 120 cm, D: 51 cm, the Guéret brothers took part in all the exhibitions from 1855 onwards, winning prizes in Brussels, Bordeaux, Besançon, London and Vienna... but above all, in 1867, at the Universal Exhibition, they were commended for "perfection in the manufacture of carved furniture".
A cabinet in carved wood with porcelain plates signed Alphonse Giroux was acquired by Empress Eugénie at the 1855 exhibition, and is now kept at the Château de Compiègne. A pair of bibilothèques is kept at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, where numerous drawings are also preserved.
