The jewel box is a fine example of the outstanding stone work quality that the gemstone cutters have been doing for centuries in Idar-Oberstein. Many of the courtly stone works, as well as in later times pieces from the houses of Cartier or Van Cleefs & Apples were made in Idar-Oberstein.
