The Education of Mary. Oil/canvas.
A good quality copy after Rubens' painting, which is now in the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp (inv. no. 306). Rubens‘ painting was created in the first half of the 1630s for the church of the monastery of the Discalced Carmelites, which was located on the site of today's Antwerp city theatre and market square and thus in the immediate vicinity of Rubens’ house and studio. The church, which was later demolished, and the painting were very popular, hence the numerous copies of the painting.
