Nason, Pieter Den Haag 1612 - um 1689 87 x 68 cm Portrait of gentleman in a dark dress with a white collar and cuffs as half-length figure. Oil/canvas, relined, signed and dated 1663 lower right. Pieter Nason is thought to have been a pupil of Nicolas Eliasz. Pickenoy and Jan van Ravensteyn an became a member of the Guild of Saint Luke in 1639. The subjects of his paintings were invariably aristocratic patrons in elaborate dress; in this portrait, the sitter's status is evidenced by his embroidered white collar and cuffs.
