AIGUIERE AND ITS BASIN in silver (925). PARIS, Gabriel-Jacques-André BOMPART, 1803-1809. The ewer stands on a circular pedestal bordered by a frieze of water leaves, with a gadrooned ring and a threaded ring. The body is engraved with a wide band decorated with foliage scrolls and swans drinking from fine cups from which reed stems emerge. The base of the neck is highlighted by a frieze of water leaves. The lid is swan-shaped. The curved handle features a stylized, leafy duck head and, at the base, a female mask crowned with flowers. The basin is shuttle-shaped and repeats the decorative motifs of the ewer: a frieze of water leaves and an engraved band of swans drinking. Dented ewer, deformed base slightly recessed into the foot (restoration), traces of knocks, scratches (basin).
