Fabrizio Tedeschi (Brescia, 1957)Totem Urbano, 2002Cartoncino telato 25 X 21 cm Fabrizio Tedeschi's production shows as its subject the totem, a universal archetype that refers to all cultures. Fabrizio adds the adjective urban to his ‘totem forests’, thus sociologically adapting a symbolism more typically associated with distant cultures to the metropolitan context. The cultural transversality of this symbolism is, however, evident in this small canvas that, in its almost spiritual recollection, recalls the sacred pilgrimage to Mecca (hajj) with devotees gathered around the kaaba.
