Collection John & Marcia Friede.Rye. New York USA The elaborate workmanship of the wavy engraved decoration accentuates the presence of the schematized figure animating the top of this spatula. Its white pigments magnify the finesse of the engraved, undulating work, accentuating the delicate rhythm of the forms, all softness and voluptuousness marked by a scroll decoration.
A rare form of spatula, produced before the first Western contacts. For two similar models, see
Newton (1975) n°6 and Beran (1988) n°63 in the form of a central openwork ring with an inner projection.
