Although Michael Hamson's Art of Boiken, published in 2011, added to the information provided by Helene Dennett after her trip to Papua, the interpretation of the ornamental motifs inscribed on Boiken dishes remains obscure.
Helene Dennett, the interpretation of the ornamental motifs inscribed on Boiken dishes still remains obscure. A beautiful circular dish with an engraved concentric motif on the base, from which emerges an animal, probably a lizard, whose rounded face sketches a broad smile.
